Mediterranea Biotecnologie has been selected as a partner by
COST - European Cooperation in Science and Technology, to contribute, with 65 other partners from 26 different countries
to the
Pimento Action/Project.
The
COST, is a funding organisation for research and innovation networks. Its actions aim to facilitate and connect research initiatives across Europe and in other countries around the world, enabling researchers and innovators to grow their ideas, in any field in science and technology, by sharing them with their colleagues. The
COST Actions are four-year bottom-up networks useful for promoting research, innovations and careers.
The aim of the Pimento action/project The project, among other things, will conduct in-depth research and a census on traditional fermented foods, in order to gain an in-depth understanding of both nutritional and food safety aspects. The know-how and innovative spirit of
Mediterranea Biotecnologie, has been recognised by
COST as invaluable in developing this project. To date, fermented foods (FF), although relevant in terms of nutrition, sustainability, cultural heritage, territorial diversity and of broad consumer interest, they lack of scientific guides scientific guides on the benefits and risks to human health.
The challenge for
Pimento and its constituent community is to bridge this gap.
In today's world, it is essential that research is interconnected, interdisciplinary, collaborative and data-intensive. By focusing on networking activities,
COST Actions help to advance knowledge and strengthen research and development by creating opportunities for researchers to meet and discuss ideas and complex problems, which can thus be addressed in a targeted manner, across a wide geographical area.
